Rigging Training

for Competent Person and Qualified Person Certification

 

These Rigging Training courses are designed for workers using mechanical systems to hoist loads on various structures for work purposes.

 

Students that complete this course will gain an understanding of:

  • Applicable rigging regulations (OSHA & ANSI, TIA)
  • Selection and Inspection of proper slings and rigging hardware
  • Weight and force calculations
  • Hands-on practice with mechanical hoisting
  • Safety, emergency, and rescue procedures
DESCRIPTION

COURSE OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES

 

Does your crew require tool bags, antennas, dishes, structural steel or other objects to be hoisted to complete the job? Safety One Rigging Classes provide the skills necessary to remain safe and compliant while performing rigging related work.

 

Safety One Rigging Courses focus on the correct type of rigging equipment required to safely perform lifting operations. Topics covered focus on lifting calculations and hands-on exercises at our Colorado training facility or your location

 

The systems used are designed to raise, haul and lower loads to elevated positions using safe methods.

 

Custom or private applications are also available to meet your exact needs.

 

Upon successful completion of the course(s), students will receive a the Safety One Certification and will be able to:

  • Understand basic rigging regulations
  • Select, inspect and use proper rigging equipment for your application
  • Conduct rigging calculations
  • Conduct mechanical hoisting
  • Identify Critical lifts and complete necessary documentation
  • Estimate the center of gravity of objects
  • Perform verbal and non-verbal crane signals

One Day for Competent Rigging Training (8 hours)

CLASS SIZE: Maximum 8 (1 Instructor)

AUDIENCE & PREREQUISITES

AUDIENCE

 

Safety One Rigging Training is designed for experienced tower climbers, pole climbers, and other at-height professionals, including:

  • Telecom and electric utility lineman
  • Wireless tower workers, and more

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE

 

Due to the complicated nature of this course, participants must have a valid fall protection safety & rescue certificate.

OSHA

 

These standard courses will satisfy the OSHA level of training as follows:

  • Competent Rigger: One Day (Covers rigging principles for many applications)
  • Qualified Rigger: Two Days (Provides a foundation for safely managing rigging operations)

Field Training

  • The field training session consists of hands-on training, in which students will participate in rigging and hoisting exercises.
  • Students will apply classroom knowledge to real world applications under direct supervision of Instructors in a fun and informative environment.
